Hi

I switched over to WWIV for tqwnet and micronet (and discovered your domain name has changed.. oops) anyway when trying to send a test message to TQWnet test area, clearing houz keeps responding with M_SKIP on the packet.

At first WWIV's binkp client didn't support M_SKIP, but I think i've implemented it correctly. It just doesn't seem to want my packet, and skips every time I try to send it.

Not sure what's going on.. i thought maybe I got dropped off those networks because I didn't notice the domain name change (and who knows how long my polling hasn't worked) but I thought I was receiving messages before I switched
over to wwiv.

I'm on TQW and I'm using Mystic. Not sure about micronet as I haven't added that one.

Ahh, the SKIP will be because I've got a packet from you with the same name - so either the first transfer failed, or you are sending me the same packet with the same name (and the first one didnt get processed for some reason).

I need to change my routine to include the mtime of the packet in the filename, since I've seen this pop up a couple of times, and while the packets have had the same name (from the same sender), the mtime/size was different.

(The M_SKIP is a safety for me, since I compare packet name, mtime and size - and at least mtime/size is different.)

No, you should still be there - you can manage yourself in clrghouz now, not sure if you have set yourself up to do that... (I think you have from memory).

Anyway, I'll take a look at clrghouz's inbound today, and clear your packet that is there.

What's the packet?

I see a couple of bad packets, but not from you.

BTW: I saw your micronet wasnt configured correctly (which I fixed), so you'll get a bunch of mail and files the next time you poll :)

OK, looks like I might have a bit more work.

Your sending me a file with this M_FILE

The issue is the C47055F5 - what's that? (A checksum of the file you are sending me?)

I started implementing compressed transfers (but didnt finish it because to me that compressed transfer logic is not fullproof - as I dont know how much data to expect, and so I need to figure out how to determine when the transfer is completed). From memory though, the value after the offset (0 in this case), from an M_FILE is the compression method to use (and that's whats clrghouz houz is tripping up on).

So I'm rejecting the file (M_SKIP) and recording this error:
[2023-11-09 00:34:08] production.ERROR: PB-:! File Open ERROR [Unsupported compression:C47055F5] {"pid":53755}

So a question, your session started with "OPT CRC", which I wouldnt have replied back with an OPT CRC, so curious why the CRC is still being used? (I'm wondering what order there is if OPT EXTCMD GZ BZ2 is also used.)

I wouldnt mind implementing being able to handle CRC transfers (IIRC, MBSE uses it too) - it was on my list to explore.

So is it possible you can turn it off - if anything temporarily? Otherwise I'll patch my code to ignore it for now before I implement it. (So at least your transfers will work.)

I don't know, I'm using WWIV not my own software - I can try and track it down. I guess it's a bug in WWIV.

I made some changes, then realized there was a config option to turn it of, so i reverted my changes and then realized the config option is ignored....

I've now disabled the OPT CRC and sending CRCs, though one file is still stuck it seems.

Also I got a bunch of micronet messages, though tqw is still empty - I cant log in to Meatlotion's BBS for some reason (Probably got myself blocked trying to get through his bot blocker's unprintable characters... "press smileyface twice to continue...") so i cant check, but i think my test message got through.

Yup, I saw it.

Did you get a netmail back saying that you had a packet password defined (here), and that your packet didnt have a packet password?

So, I got your file, and didnt process it (because of no packet password).

Your system must have then bundled up another bundle, with the same archive name and sent it - but I M_SKIP it because it has a different mtime and size to the one I already have (that I got earlier).

(This is a fix, I'm going to implement, because its reasonable that archives have the same name, and so I shouldnt reject the next one coming with the same name, if I didnt process the first one.)

Anyway, I've cleared them now - so hopefully you are set. Let me know if you see any other anomalies.

Just had a thought, did I send you tqw ones, but your side rejected them because they had a packet password?
