Aaaaaand that is why you use Stable for actual work, and Current for playing or development.
If you are stressed, think of the people who use rolling releases.
That is the usual state of being for them :-)

I didn't see any updates to slackware-current yesterday, maybe that is why. But no, I don't think it will break slackware. :)

$ /lib/libc.so.6
GNU C Library (GNU libc) development release version 2.34.
It looks great from this angle. What were you expecting the upcoming glibc release to break?

what to i do in /etc/slackware/mirrors ?
and what config is needed in slackpkg.conf ?

gentoo havde always being default stable, unless users want pr pkg unstable, if slackware did use portage management it would not be any problem with slackware at all

gentoo have 2.33 stable, with crypt support,
the 2.34 is still to come with can maybe still have support for crypt ?
the crypt part is planned to be external not in glibc any more
hope you know why i use gentoo ?
Also am upgrading to a 5.13.x kernel headers which requires a
gcc patch in order to be in sync with glibc-2.34 headers.
It boots but still no console penguins for i915drmfb. It still works though.
try change .config as above
Not a big deal as long as it all works which it does despite the lack
of penguins at bootup. :-/
it might help aswell for none gentoo users, some times its as
simple as change =m to =y in .config
Understood but in the case here I've got bootup penguins working on a "x5-E8000/J3xxx/N3xxx Integrated Graphics Controller", which is also inteldrm, as well as "Intel Corporation Atom Processor Z36xxx/Z37xxx Series Graphics & Display". Why would these work and not "Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 630 (Desktop 9 Series)" with the same kernel?
For the record the last time I checked there was a reported firmware issue with "Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 630 (Desktop 9 Series)" but
as of late haven't seen mention of it in dmesg.
have you tryed booting vesa fb0 ?
if that works its just missing firmware or unsupported uhd in
kernel
loadlin.exe gentoo with msdos-splash
i remember this dos program, mostly used on floppy disks to boot
linux, shameless
have you tryed booting vesa fb0 ?
Not since the Paleolithic. Besides that requires a 4:3 monitor which
I currently lack.

So far I am up to a bootable 5.13.1 kernel and it still doesn't even
try to display penguins. :-/

There was also a win95 version of it (desktop icon) that when you
double clicked on it, it would shut down win95 and fire up a linux partition without a reboot.
Shameless for sure.
incorrect, vesa does not enforce aspect ratio
i had vesa on 1600x1200 monitor with 8 penguins, i still have that picture
vesa is what to do if others does not work
take that graphic card out and return it to the store as non
working
and the loadlin.exe existed for os/2 if i remember aswell
i am just happy now that msdos chromoium edge is open source now
i am just happy now that msdos chromoium edge is open source now
It makes no difference here. The only place I've seen chromiun is on android based phones and tablets ... and usually the owner installs firefox instead. ;-)
chromebook, built on opensource msdos, with opensource chrome
browser, who need more ?,
seamonkey :)
Is that why distributions are dropping support for chromium?
seamonkey :)
My neighbour would jump on that bandwagon as it's his default browser
for at least 20 years now. Personally I think they are all
overbloated pieces of crap especially the ms based ones, opensource or not. Of the linux based ones firefox is the best but I could live without it.
Long live lynx!!! ... and/or links. :-)
eq where is gohher nntp now
seamonkey is not that blotware, its came from netscape, before
microsoft had a browser
links is not more bloted then lynx ? :)
eq where is gohher nntp now
I'm not sure about nntp. Do we want that to work from a browser?
That was mozilla. I first saw mozilla on Solaris (X Windows) way
back when in the early 1990's.
eq where is gohher nntp now
Lynx handles gopher:// links nicely. I'm not sure about nntp. Do we
want that to work from a browser? When I do use nntp I use tin.
gopher://fido.junc.eu/
finaly i got it, just default page, but only online one day so
far :)
I'm not sure about nntp. Do we want that to work from a browser?I vote HELL NO!!!

gopher://fido.junc.eu/It works with lynx but not links. I plan to look into why that is.

far :)
good, i only have simple gopher client on windows 10 from app store, that on works, on andoid i dont know if anything exists

i would like to do the replacement for ftp:// to gopher:// with
it, so i can close that problem with ftp protocol
i dont know much on how to build gopher pages yet
feel free to send me example pages in netmail to test with
There is Pocket Gopher for Android. It is fine but you will need to
get it from F-Droid since I think it is not in Google's store.
Me neither. As far as I can tell I only have lynx that works at the moment although I probably could write a bash script that uses netcat
to create a client fidonet-ish app. There is a Net::Gopher module for perl and I've heard rumours of a python gopher module.
i would like to do the replacement for ftp:// to gopher:// withOffhand I think ftp is the better option.
it, so i can close that problem with ftp protocol
i dont know much on how to build gopher pages yetOther than a client script for kermit, I havem't used gopher in
roughly 30 years now.
feel free to send me example pages in netmail to test withThis is your idea not mine but if I get more curious about it I might
try something out that may or may not be of any interest to your goal
for it.
I can't see this idea catching on though beyond a server and
a few clients on smartphones.
Gopher might be a better option than
sms messaging and the such. Is that what you're thinking?
maybe pygopherd cloud be extended to client
then gopher wins
you tell me after 30 years ?
this is my goal
maybe pygopherd cloud be extended to clientAt the moment I don't know but it seems to me that many Android apps
are python based so perhaps there is something there.
then gopher winsMaybe we'll see. I am still thinking about it and haven't taken any
real steps in this direction.
you tell me after 30 years ?Don't quit your day job. :-)
this is my goalThere might be some fun to be had.
I'll first have to set up a
server, probably on wireless, and see what kind of damage I can do
with it before getting too serious about it all.
python on android ?
feel free to se my gopher server
oh wifi 6 ? :)
